Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered into a search box is sent to the outside provider that supplies that tool. The provider processes the query and produces its own results. Weakley County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If a visitor sends an email, the message may be retained long enough to answer and manage the correspondence. It is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.
Data We Gather Automatically
Web servers may collect routine technical information when a page loads, including:
- The device's Internet Protocol address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- A referring website, when one is supplied
- The date and time of each request
Cookies and Analytics
Small files called cookies may help measure how visitors move through the site, which material receives traffic, and where visits end. Analytics vendors can combine this information into performance reports. A browser can reject or remove cookies, although parts of the website may then function in a different way.
What We Do With This Data
- Delivering pages and keeping the service available
- Routing a search request to the selected partner
- Measuring which reference pages serve visitors well
- Finding faults, abuse, and other technical problems
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Weakley County Criminal History does not operate or sell a personal criminal-record database. Its articles identify government custodians such as the Weakley County Circuit Court Clerk, the Sheriff's Department, TBI, TDOC, and the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into a record about a third person or into a consumer report. The website is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search tools. Information entered in one of those boxes is subject to that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each company chooses its own retention, disclosure, matching, and security practices. Visitors should read the relevant provider terms before submitting a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Weakley County offices, Tennessee agencies, court systems, public legal resources, and outside search providers. Once a visitor leaves this website, the destination's rules control the visit. Its privacy policy should be reviewed before personal details are supplied.
Advertising providers may use their own technology to follow activity across more than one website and select ads. That processing occurs on the provider's systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and site performance
- Outside search providers receiving a query
- Advertising networks placing ads on pages
- A court, government body, or law enforcement agency acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards are applied to information under the site's control. No network, server, or storage system can be guaranteed secure in all circumstances. These safeguards reduce risk, but they cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is directed to adults and does not knowingly seek personal information from a person under 18. If information from a minor is identified, a request may be made for its deletion.
Your Data Rights
Rights can differ based on where a visitor lives and which law applies. A person may be able to request access to stored personal data, seek correction or deletion, or object to some processing. Tennessee's Public Records Act, Tenn. Code Ann. §§ 10-7-501 through 10-7-518, governs records held by covered public offices rather than turning this private site into a county custodian. Tenn. Code Ann. §§ 10-7-503 and 10-7-504 address access and confidential government information, while § 38-6-120 governs TBI criminal-history checks and dissemination.
- Request a copy of personal information held about the requester
- Ask that inaccurate personal data be corrected
- Seek deletion when the applicable law permits it
- Opt out of certain processing when such a right applies
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as site practices or legal requirements change. A revised version becomes available on this page and carries a new effective date.
